Whenever you see Fabricwatch throw a lot of a lot of FW-1050 warning messages around indicating an out of boundary power value on SFP’s it is most likely these ports have never been polled by the CP’s.

On a normally operational port FOS will poll the SFP’s so now and then to check on various things. This includes the usual SFP inventory like serial number, Vendor ID, SFP capabilities etc. Additional things that checked are the TX and RX power levels, voltage and current being used on that particular SFP.
The switch knows there is an SFP inserted in the port but it simply has not kicked off an inventory and status poll.

Even when enabling a port there is no immediate change.

Change the normal with “persistent” disable does not change the polling in anyway. When persistently disabling a port it simply turns off the laser and the state is retained over boot cycles.
LS41:FID41:admin> portcfgpersistentdisable 1/14
The state stays the same.

During this time the FW-1050 messages of FabricWatch will still be logged. In order to resolve this you can force FOS to poll the SFP and extract the power-values etc.
The command to execute :
sfpshow <slot>/<port> -f
The “-f” forces the poll and the info will be extracted.

This also stops the FW-1050 messages.
Hope this helps
